Worship

Shalom’s core values of being grounded in and living out God’s compassion and peace for all people are reflected in our liturgies and sermons. We’re informal in style and dress, and we primarily sing hymns and songs from the new “Voices Together” hymnal we just received in 2021 from MennoMedia. We welcome all ages and abilities into our services. We often have congregation and community members preach or speak from their own lives, and many participate in planning worship and leading worship and music.

Of course this past year we’ve worshipped together primarily using Zoom to connect us from our homes around Harrisonburg & Rockingham County, as well as some new friends and members from much farther away. Anyone who can’t join us on Zoom can either participate live or later on YouTube. We plan to continue offering online participation as we begin experimenting with ways of gathering again in the summer and fall of 2021.

When gathering in person, a nursery is available during the service as well.
